Dermatopathology

Numerous skin cases are sent to the Lab of Path, PA and many diseases of the skin are diagnosed at the laboratory every day. Most of the skin related cases seen can be routinely diagnosed but some cases warrant further studies such as Immunohistochemistry stains. These stains further clarify the disease and better aid the pathologist in providing a more accurate diagnosis for the case. Additional clinical history is sometimes warranted on more complex cases, so the pathologists are in constant communication with the physicians submitting the case trying to determine additional patient history pertinent to the case.
